One place, different lives
De Greiner is a unique place that brings special stories together. In this exhibition, the stories of Anne, architect Dick Greiner, The building, and The Student come together. Stories about people, places, memories, and the various lives connected to one place. Lovemap Studio gives shape to stories through art.
And what is extra special is that all the structures incorporated into the works come from De Greiner itself. Danny, the creator of Lovemap Studio, set out with his camera, giving this exhibition a double meaning. He not only tells the stories through these abstract works, but the building is also truly reflected within them.

From her first espresso in Arnhem to her own coffee bar in De Greiner in Haarlem. Anne’s love for coffee took her via The Hague and a coffee plantation in Uganda, finally leading her to KOHI.

The man behind the building
Anyone walking through De Greiner today sees more than just a remarkable building. Behind the bricks, windows, and colorful details lies the story of Dick Greiner: carpenter, architect, artist, and designer.
From his first steps as a carpenter to his own architectural firm, and from Haarlem to the experimental Betondorp in Amsterdam: Greiner left his mark everywhere.

Op drie ochtenden maken we het extra gezellig. Je bent welkom om binnen te lopen, de werken te bekijken en met ons te praten over het concept. We vertellen je graag alles over de kunstwerken en hoe een Lovemap ontstaat.

The student
A girl in the Greiner
A glimpse into De Greiner around 1959 - 1961. In this place, generations of girls learned to cook, sew, and other practical skills. The school reflected the spirit of the age, in which their future was often thought to revolve around the household and family.
But the world changed. Education and the role of women also changed, and eventually De Greiner was given new users and functions.
The building
From housekeeping school to artists' space: De Greiner has taken on a new purpose time and again over the years.
In 1903, the Haarlem Housekeeping and Industrial School started here. After its function as a school ended, the building welcomed new users, but also gradually fell into disrepair.
Thanks to a restoration, the character of architect Dick Greiner was preserved. Since then, De Greiner has once again provided space for artists, entrepreneurs, and social initiatives.
